If your legal novel was published in 2013 (ebooks count!),
you might consider entering it in the Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction The
deadline for entries is April 7, 2014. The prize is a collaborative effort of
the American Bar Association and the University of Alabama School of Law, which
Lee attended. Previous winners are The
Confession by John Grisham, The Fifth
Witness by Michael Connelly, and Havana
Requiem by Paul Goldstein.
The prize is given to a work that depicts the role of
lawyers in society and their power to bring about change.
To Kill a Mockingbird
was published in 1960. The actor Gregory Peck played Atticus Finch in the film
version, which was released in 1962. Mockingbird
is Lee’s only published novel.
