You Never Know Who Can Help You

I am enthused because Contemporary Law Office Management received a nice mention in my alma mater’s alumni magazine.

My little ego boost is a good reminder, though, of the importance of maintaining contact with classmates, former colleagues, and even casual friends. Over the years, I have gotten plenty of help from alumni with whom I had only the remotest of connections. I am grateful and have tried to return the courtesy, both to individuals who helped me but also to others in my universe.

The reminder here for lawyers, of course, is that they must always market.  Keeping in touch, sending cordial notes or emails, making a phone call, connecting on Facebook or Twitter or elsewhere can have professional as well as personal benefits. It’s easy to let connections lapse sometimes, but it can also be foolhardy.
